Barcelona are set to begin negotiations with Liverpool over a deal for star striker Luis Suarez. Officials from the two clubs are set to meet in London. The Uruguay international has four years remaining on his Liverpool contract but he will be serving a four-month ban after biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup.
Liverpool are likely to accept an offer of 80 million pounds for Suarez, who joined for just over 22 million pounds from Ajax in 2011. Media reports claim Barcelona are willing to pay around 60 million pounds for the controversial striker but they might add Chile forward Alexis Sanchez in part-exchange.
Suarez apologised on Monday for biting Chiellini. Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said: "Suarez has shown he is humble enough to admit an error, which is very important. Everyone knows Luis is an excellent player, everyone knows last season he played in various positions in attack, but everyone also knows he is a Liverpool player."
