Illegal World Cup Wagers Continue in Malaysia and Singapore
Despite strict policing of online gambling activity in Malaysia and Singapore, local authorities say that punters are still wagering on World Cup football games in Brazil. Singapore police arrested 15 people over the weekend who were caught accepting online bets on the football matches via several websites. Police seized $350,000, computers and other evidence indicating that the ring generated $800,000 in just two weeks. Malaysian police arrested two bookies who illegally accepting bets on World Cup matches and seized laptops and Wi-Fi modems in addition to other evidence.
