World Cup: Winger Adnan Januzaj has decided to play for Belgium
Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj has decided to represent Belgium in international football. Belgium head coach Marc Wilmots has announced the event on Twitter and declared himself "delighted" with the youngster's decision. Januzaj was born in Belgium to Kosovan-Albanian parents and joined Manchester United in 2011. The 19-year-old could have played for various international teams: Kosovo, Albania, Turkey, Serbia and even England. He chose Belgium and he could well be entered in the 2014 World Cup squad. All participant nations have to name a 30-man provisional squad on 13 May. Januzaj has not yet played international football at any level. He was invited by Kosovo to play in a friendly match in March but he declined. The young star was signed by Manchester United from Anderlecht for areported fee of £297,000. He could have played for England from 2018 assuming he remained in the country until then to gain citizenship. Januzaj made his league debut for United as a substitute in a 2-0 win at home to Crystal Palace in September and then scored both goals for the Red Devils in his first Premier League start, a 2-1 victory at Sunderland, on 5 October, 2013. Following that debut Wilmots said he wanted him to play for Belgium, while England manager Roy Hodgson also said he was going to be keeping an eye on a player whom he described as a "real talent". Belgium are 14/1 at Bet365 to win this summer's World Cup while England are 33/1 to get their hands on the most important trophy in the world of football.
