Back UEFA Champions League: Manchester United vs Bayern Munich preview

Pep Guardiola's men have already solved one of this season's problems as they have already won the Bundesliga, so the head coach decided to rest several key players ahead of the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final clash at Old Trafford. The home side will be without Robin van Persie and that makes an already difficult task seem almost impossible.

Bayern recorded a 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga last Saturday but the result didn't matter too much as they had already been crowned champions before the match. Moreover, Guardiola rested key players like Thomas Muller, Phillip Lahm and Arjen Robben. Manchester United are 10 points behind the Champions League spots with six games remaining in the season, so their best chance to play in the competition next season would be to win it now.

United produced a superb comeback in the previous round against Olympiakos, turning things around after having lost the first leg 2-0. Robin van Persie bagged a hat-trick in the second leg but he won't play against Bayern due to a knee injury. David Moyes will also have to do without Chris Smalling, Rafael and Antonio Valencia, all injured. Patrice Evra is suspended for United while Bayern will miss Dante due to suspension. Bayern have not lost away from home in the Champions League since October 2012.

Here are the odds at Bet365 for Tuesday's clash:

Manchester United win - 13/2 Draw - 15/4 Bayern Munich win - 19/40
