ASA Bans Betway’s Risk-Free Ad
A headline banner ad which promotes a GBP 50 risk-free betting has brought betting operation Betway in controversy with the UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which ruled that clear links and references to the associated terms and conditions are not enough for the ad not to be misunderstood and misinterpreted. Therefore, they assessed, it could be interpreted that upon sign up a customer could bet with GBP 50 without loss, so the ad may not appear in its current form again. According to the T's and C's, customers were required to deposit and bet with their own money, so the "free bet" was actually a refund, awarded in bonus funds, which would only be made to qualifying customers.
