Update: Betfred-Olympic Granny Conflict Continues
Unsigned checks sent to Aldred If you thought the row between Olympic gymnast Sam Oldham's grandmother and gambling group Betfred has come to a conclusion when the bookie decided to pay the GBP1000 winnings to the lady, you were wrong. In round two of the duel, reports emerged that the payment made by Betfred was uncashable. According to its beneficiary, Linda Aldred, the checks Betfred sent to her and her sister after the dispute largely covered by the media, both came unsigned – one would say a company that stood on a brink of scandal would pay more attention when issuing a redemption check. It was further stated by Aldred: “BetFred say they send out plenty of cheques (so) it is not unusual for an odd one to go unsigned. Strange that two in the same dispute happen not to have been signed.” Hopefully, this unfortunate error will soon be corrected by Betfred, in order to get at least some of the lost reputation back.
