Online betting exchange enters a deal with the City of Kiel

This week came a report that online betting exchange Betfair has closed a key sponsorship deal with Kiel-Marketing and the City of Kiel. Based on the deal, it will act as a sponsor of Kiel Week 2012 and a new international trimaran racing series called MOD70 European Tour 2012.

After starting small, as an annual ship racing competition, Kiel Week has grown over time, so now it includes a music festival across all public stages within the city, and sponsorships that mostly involve Schleswig-Holstein media and telecommunications industry.

According to Tim Holborn, spokesperson for the city of Kiel, "We are delighted that we have found a strong partner in Betfair. Betfair is a reputable and highly respected company in the UK, which takes its social responsibility seriously and already shows great commitment to sports and society."

As for Betfair’s part, its Cental European chief, Peter Reinhardt added: "Kiel Week in Germany is a sporting highlight - a commitment from Betfair was easy, given the international appeal of this event."
