Betfred's Downsizing for the Sake of Regulator
UK bookmaker offers to sell 25 betting outlets to gain 517 Betfred, UK land and online bookmaker has offered to sell a betting shop in each of the 25 areas to satisfy regulators concerned about competition after the gambling company's recent takeover of the Tote from the government. Before the Tote deal can be approved by the Office of Fair Trading, Betfred will have to give up the 25 betting outlets in areas where possible competition element is a cause for concern. At the moment, the company has 840 betting shops all over Britain with further 517 Tote's outlets, provided that the deal gets the Office's approval.
