You may recall in a previous post I said that William Hill Sportsbook will take any bet if you ask them.

A Darwen man wanted to lose some weight and decided that the best incentive to help him lose weight was to place a bet on himself.  He approached William Hill and they took his bet and gave him odds of 100/1 on losing 100 lbs in a year.

Now the 26-year-old has collected a win of £10,000 after shedding more than seven stone in a year.

The strapping 6ft 2ins Peter, who weighed 21 stone when he placed the bet, now weighs just 14 stone.  He heard a story on the radio about a man winning a bet with Will Hill after losing 3 stone and decided that would be an incentive to him to lose weight.

This was the biggest amount anyone had bet on themselves and this is why William Hill gave him such a good price.

He said: "It’s had a great knock on effect on my health – it’s probably put years on my life along with the money in my bank.

That's nice, I might contact them with a bet on me gaining weight Smiley (I weigh around 132 pounds and that rarely changed during the past 15 years)

Wow you are very slim Johnny.  Your biking must keep you fit and trim.

Winning a bet is always a good way of forcing yourself to do something. Good for the guy!

I think it's the tobacco that keeps me slim Smiley I quit smoking for a couple of months a few years ago and I went a bit over the 132 pounds even though I kept on biking regularly Wink

Apparently, it takes a year before you lose the weight you have gained and go back to your normal weight (after giving up the cigs).
