Due to the Olympics, the NHL will not have an All-Star game this season. It won’t be missed, and for good reason.

Instead, two of the sport’s superpowers meet Sunday in an emotional matchup that guarantees to be far more entertaining than any high-scoring exhibition.

Looking to secure a bye into the quarterfinals, the United States faces a Canadian squad under pressure from an entire nation to get one of the coveted top four spots.

With each team boasting a talent-laden roster from top to bottom, the Americans sit atop Group A with six points, one more than the Canadians. Though both teams have won their first two games in round-robin play, the United States took both easily in regulation.

Happy anniversary, U.S. Olympic hockey team. 30 Years ago today the USA beat the what was thought to be the unbeatable Russians.

The goaltending couldn’t haven’t been better in the U.S. defeat of much-hyped Canada. The timing couldn’t be more perfect, either.

Now, the latest hockey team to capture the American public imagination’s needs only to write a happy ending to this success story in the making, just like the 1960 and 1980 teams did.

Winning the game they supposedly couldn’t against a virtual NHL all-star team that Canadians believed was ordained for gold, the Americans’ unexpected 5-3 victory Sunday advanced them to Wednesday’s quarterfinals as the top-seeded team.

Not only was my heart into this game so was my wallet as i bet on the USA at Intertops Sportsbook.
