   What are they talking about "Triple Crown contenders?  There are no TC contenders this year - that was eliminated this past Saturday at the Preakness.  (and I don't even bet the horses  )

There is the Kentucky Derby, followed by the Preakness.....and finally the Belmont Stakes. These are three huge races of the year. The final leg of the race "the Belmont" race is the last in the series aka the Triple Crown.

I thoroughly understand the Triple Crown series.   Maybe I'm just not understanding their usage of the term "contenders", because there are no Triple Crown contenders this year.  There are horses in the Belmont, but none are Triple Crown contenders.
