Bernice Gallego an antique collector, was looking through a box of junk and found what she thought was an interesting baseball card. She decided to put it up on eBay with a starting bid of $10. One man saw the card and told her to take it down immediately and he will buy the card. After a few enthusiastic buyers, she was happy to think she might just get $50 or maybe even $100 for the card!

Bernice decided to take the card down after she began to wonder what the card’s worth really is. Turns out the card was 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings card and one of the first baseball cards ever. Needless to say Bernice was estatic to learn that the card was worth much, much more than $10.

The baseball card was put back on auction and was sold within three weeks for $64,043. Not a bad piece of change for something found in a box of junk. Bernice doesn’t even remember where she got the box or how long she had it. She thinks it came from a storage sale where she paid $200 for all the contents of an abandoned storage rental.

That is not Bernice’s biggest windfall. She won ten years before, $250,00 on a slot machine in Reno, Nevada. Wonder what the next the years will bring for this lady luck?

Wow thats lucky, i appreciate the story Lips, i myself am always looking for stuff like that.. i had a sale in my home a while back because i do have alot of antiques (everything) but i was trying to rid some of the nic-nacs, people were coming to the house and say opening drawers that i had put alot of small antiques into and would offer large amounts of money for all that was in the drawers.. one offer i got was the strangest it was a drawer full of papers from maybe 1890's to say 1940's postcards, stationaries, different things like that he offered 340.00 bucks for whats inside without even looking.. i was kind of in disbelief but he was serious, gave me the money and dumped it all into a big bag and was on his way.. who knows what kind of treasures were in there..
