The St Louis Blues returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 victory against the Los Angeles Kings. Jamie Langenbrunner scored the only goal of the game in the second-period and goalie Jaroslav Halak took care of the rest as he stopped 22 shots for his 21st career shutout. The Blues moved up into fourth place in the Western Conference while the Kings are down in 7th position.

The Toronto Maple leafs won the Battle of Ontario against the Ottawa Senators and they did that in style: 5-0! Phil Kessel and Tyler Bozak each had a goal and two assists, while Luke Schenn, Cody Franson and Dion Phaneuf also scored for the Maple Leafs who recorded a second win in a row. Toronto goalie James Reimer recorded his second consecutive shutout and his third of the season, turning away all 49 shots. The Senators are now seventh in the Eastern Conference, one place above the Maple Leafs.

Tim Thomas was the most important man for the Bruins as he made 35 saves while Brad Marchand led the offence with a goal and an assist. The New Jersey Devils have grabbed their fifth consecutive win at the end of a hard-fought match against the New York Rangers. David Clarkson scored his 21st goal of the season and the only goal of the match while goalie Martin Brodeur made 30 saves for his 117th career shutout to lead the Devils to victory against their rivals. The Rangers remain atop the Eastern Conference despite the defeat while the Devils moved up in 5th place.

The Buffalo Sabres recorded a very surprising result as they demolished defending champions Boston Bruins 6-0! Minnesota set a franchise record for fastest goal from the start of a game by scoring just 13 seconds after the opening faceoff but then got battered by the Canucks' fightback. Five different Canadiens scored goals, Tomas Plekanec had a couple of assists and goalie Carey Price stopped 32 shots for his fourth shutout of the season and the 16th of his career. The Anaheim Ducks have earned a third consecutive victory as they grabbed a 2-1 win at the Pittsburgh Penguins. Teemu Selanne scored the decisive goal for the Ducks and broke a tie with his 656th career goal, tying him with Brendan Shanahan for 12th place in NHL history. Corey Perry scored the other goal for the Ducks after Jordan Staal had put the Penguins ahead in the first peroiod. The Chicago Blackhawks bounced back to winning ways with an unexpected road victory at Eastern Conference leaders NY Rangers. Jonathan Toews, Nick Leddy and Patrick Sharp scored during the game's first four minutes, and that was all they needed to snap a nine-game losing streak in a 4-2 victory at Madison Square Garden. Marian Hossa made it 4-0 with just 9:38 elapsed in the first period and the Rangers were unable to fight back. The Rangers remain top of the Eastern Conference while the Blackhawks are now 6th in the West.
