The third day of the 2011 Golf Open Championship is playing today at Royal St George, Sandwich in Kent.  The rain is falling hard and 20cm of rain (2 months worth!) is expected to fall today.  Not only that, there are gusts of wind reaching 30mph too.

Mix that all up and you got yourself a great game where amateur golfers stand a great chance of making it onto the leaderboard.

If you are thinking of having a flutter, then Paddy Power Sportsbook is the place to go.  They are paying up to the top 7 places in this great tournament.  Not to be outdone, Boylesports are also paying the top 7 places too.

Here are the outright winner odds:

Boylesports

6/1 Kaymer, Martin
10/1 McIlroy, Rory
12/1 Schwartzel, Charl
14/1 Clarke, Darren
16/1 Glover, Lucas
18/1 Jimenez, Miguel Angel
18/1 Johnson, Dustin
20/1 Mickelson, Phil
22/1Bjorn, Thomas
28/1Campbell, Chad

Paddy Power

Kaymer, Martin 11/2
Mcilroy, Rory    9/1
Glover, Lucas    12/1
Clarke, Darren 12/1
Yang, Y.E  66/1
Palmer, Ryan    66/1
Day, Jason    66/1
Haas, Bill    150/1
Noh, Seung-Yul 150/1
Wilson, Mark    150/1

Good luck.

The new Open Champion 2011 is Irish Golfer, Darren Clarke.

What a great game he has had despite the wind and rain.  He is just getting his scorecard checked and is about to receive the trophy and a very nice cheque for £900,000.

Listening to Peter Alliss commentate on TV over the last couple of days has been as interesting as ever.  He is such a knowledgeable man and is able to give interesting snippets of information which make the game all the more interesting.

I have to say, I don't normally watch the golf but I have really enjoyed it this year.

I hope you managed to back Darren Clarke before the entire Open Championship started, as apparently, he was 150/1 at the start.
