Top two favourites Tsonga and Gasquet eased past their second round opponents to advance to the quarter finals while Xavier Malisse joins them after a fairly easy match against Kunitsyn. Seventh seed Kohlschreiber failed in his bid for a place in the quarter finals as he was defeated by Dutch qualifier Sijsling.

Top favourite Tsonga pulled through to the semi finals after a complicated match against fellow Frenchman Mahut but second seed Richard Gasquet was not so lucky as he was defeated in straight sets by Gilles Muller. Third and fourth seeds Dolgopolov and Ljubicic also managed to advance to the semi finals.

Local favourite Jo Wilfried Tsonga managed to win the Metz tournament but he didn't have an easy evening against Ivan Ljubicic. Tsonga cruised through the opening set but then Ljubicic fought back and levelled the score after clinching the second set tie break. Tsonga was the strongest though and won the decisive set, the match and the tournament.
