The Malaysian Open takes place in Kuala Lumpur this week and there are quite a few top class players taking part. The top two favourites are Nicolas Almagro and Victor Troicki but the likes of Janko Tipsarevic and Jurgen Melzer also have a good chance.

The first round results have not been surprising at all, the favourites won the games that they were expected to win.

There were no surprises in Kuala Lumpur yesterday either as Melzer, Tursunov and Baghdatis made the quarter finals.

The no-upsets policy continued at the Malaysian Open as all the favourites went through on Thursday, including top two seeds Almagro and Troicki.

The top favourite has fallen in the quarter finals: Nicolas Almagro was surprisingly beaten by Japanese player Kei Nishikori in three sets! Fourth seed Jurgen Melzer was also the victim of an upset as he was defeated by wild-card entry Marcos Baghdatis while Serbian pair Troicki and Tipsarevic made the semi finals.

Marcos Baghdatis continued his fantastic week with an emphatic win against second seed Victor Troicki and advances to the final where he will meet another Serbian, Janko Tipsarevic, who easily dispatched Kei Nishikori.

Serbian Janko Tipsarevic clinched a massive result, a two-set victory against Marcos Baghdatis and his first ever ATP World Tour title! It's a day that he will surely remember for the rest of his life but hopefully he will be able to add even more titles in the future.
